Louisiana Reds

My great mate Michael Kantrow and I visited Louisiana to watch the LSU v Alabama game at Death Valley (LSU’s appropriately named stadium).  The Tigers defended brilliantly and held the formidable Crimson Tide for almost 3 quarters but dominated in the last quarter and they secured the win. It is definitely a sporting highlight as I’ve never experienced such an awesome atmosphere like it.

The morning after the game we made our way down to Venice Harbor which is 2 hrs south of New Orleans at the base of the Mississippi Delta and accessible to a vast fishing area known for its big schools of Bull Redfish.

Michael and I both got a sizeable Bull each and a couple of smaller version. I was impressed with how hard they pull, reminding me like Mulloway / Jewfish back home.

Our guide for the day was Captain Chris from CW Guide Service who we can highly recommend as a knowledgable local expert with a solid outfit for fishing these waters.
